You have most definitely heard the old adage that April showers bring May flowers. Well, that's exactly my sentiment about the month of May. It's the time of year that I feel most reflects spring; flowers are blooming and humans are slowly coming out of their winter hibernation.
Although the nights are still chilly, the days are blanketed in a sunny warmth. Us Northerners spend most of the month fervently awaiting the May Long Weekend. It's traditionally when we kick-start the summer and spend the whole four days camping.
Outside of spending nights under the stars, it's also stag & doe season (we have four weddings this summer!) as well as the time of year where we begin gardening. We're planning to build some big garden boxes in the backyard and grow various veggies, herbs, and ornamental grasses. Fingers crossed our weather permits this endeavour! The seeds I've been tending to indoors for the past month aren't faring too well (likely due to a lack of sunshine or my utter inexperience with plants).
MONTH IN REVIEW
This past month has been a total whirlwind for me, as I'm sure it has been for a lot of people. The month of May sort of sneaks up on you right in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the spring season. I keep wishing there were at least three versions of me so that I could focus on one thing at a time, at the same time. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure that one out.
I'm grateful that work has been keeping me busy and that projects keep arising. Although there are days where I feel as though it's hard just keeping my head above water and I can't remember the last time I took some solid vacation (other than forced days off on account of sickness which isn't very enjoyable anyway). I'm not sure what the near future holds in store but I'm trying to just enjoy the ride and take it all as it comes.
I've been accepted into the Maker's North Etsy Team, which showcases makers from Northern Ontario! Check out their page, they feature a ton of amazing artists at work.
I've also been approved to start my own Creative Market shop, and have vowed to teach myself the art of font making! So keep your eyes peeled for some new projects in the coming months.
