Hey guys it's my first blog post ever!
What's new and exciting?
Well, I just purchased an iPad Pro yesterday, and have already been nerding out for hours on end. I may have even taken the afternoon off work to get the hang of the procreate app, my new favourite thing. I can't get over how easy it is to write with the ipencil straight into digital instead of scanning and image tracing the lettering.
Other than going to work for the morning and playing in my iPad, today I published an article on medium (based on something I wrote for the goddess rebellion the day before) titled:
"It’s a Pivotal Moment When You Finally Get Tired of Your Own Shit."
Otherwise, I'm thinking about what to write for next week across medium. Lately, I've been really contemplating different styles of writing. There are some people who write like they're orchestrating a powerpoint presentation, full of bold points, statistics and sources. Then, we have the opposite end of the spectrum - someone who writes like they're journaling in their diary. I often feel like both miss the mark for me (personally) because it's hard to be engaged with either. One is too dry, the other is too personal.
I make an avid effort to write about my experiences in a way that first, isn't all about me (so therefore can be relatable to others when they read it); and second, isn't overly personal (so you wouldn't really know if it were fact or fiction). I'm all for healing through writing, but if you're writing about the same person over and over that actually exists, whether that's a former lover, parent or friend, it's almost in attempt to control the narrative and refuse to let them (or the situation) go.
This is especially relevant if the person is not on good terms with you. I would never want a former boyfriend or friend to haphazardly stumble upon my writing and feel as though I'm crossing a line or refusing to let them go. It is for these reasons that I write what's in my head, in a way where I hope others can relate instead of simply reading my story. Because when I am seeking to read something, I look for what I can relate to as well. Besides, I write because I have to write, and I write for the sake of writing. I don't write because of someone else.
Anyway, I digress. The weather is getting cold here and I couldn't be happier. I think that about sums it up for my first blog post, but fingers crossed there will be more to come shortly.
Wishing you all the best autumn season!
