After high school, I took a more traditional career approach, graduating with an Honors Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences (Major in Criminology and Minor in Psychology) from Ottawa University. Upon graduation I was hired to work for the government and have done so in various capacities since this time. Although I enjoyed (and continue to enjoy) working with people, I longed for the creative outlet I'd shoved into the back of my desk drawer since I was younger. So, with a passion for words and after a few years of practice, I finally taught myself the art of modern calligraphy.
Shortly after I began practicing hand lettering, I (coincidentally) started writing my own words, too. The lengthy written conversations I was having with my friends were saved as notes in my phone. Those notes turned into sentences and paragraphs and posts. I started my own private Tumblr, then co-founded The Goddess Rebellion and finally began writing creatively on Medium. Now, I'm a freelance content writer for People-OnTheGo and LovEd, where I've dipped my toes into research, marketing and copywriting.
